In efforts to increase statewide FAFSA and CASFA completion rates, HB22-1366 Improving Students' Postsecondary Options prioritizes financial aid training to "financial literacy educators, career and technical education instructors, counselors, and professionals such as those working in family engagement."
Our department is collaborating with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to "develop financial literacy training options aligned with financial aid information, federal and state application processes, and underlying financial literacy principles, such as in-demand, high-wage jobs and the necessary training leading to those jobs."
This Educator Financial Aid Training will be offered throughout the state (regions listed below). While the training is open to any professional, to receive the one-time $500 stipend, participants must be a Local Education Provider (LEP) working with grades 9-12. As defined by CDE, LEP means a school district, a charter school authorized by a school district, a charter school authorized by the State Charter School Institute, or a board of cooperative services created that operates one or more public schools.
All participants will receive six continuing education credits.
