2017-2018 Awardees

In the fiscal year 2017-2018, the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) board approved 48 local scholarship proposals worth $6,791,194 in 1:1 scholarship matches to counties, institutions of higher education, and workforce development organizations. The 48 awards represent 46 counties ($4,495,243), 24 institutions of higher education ($1,235,661), and eight workforce programs ($1,060,290). 

In May 2018, the COSI Board also made available $90,000 in supplemental funds for a new reduced-match program for 16 counties. In total it is estimated that about 5,171 additional students will be awarded scholarships through all of these investments.

In the fiscal year 2015-2016, the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative board reviewed, and approved, the first round of applications for approximately $1.3 million in matching funds in November 2015. On January 20, 2016, the board reviewed and approved an additional $1.9 million in matching funds. Again, in March 2016, and May 2016 the board approved $1.1 million and $2.3 million respectively. Through these partnerships, to-date the Scholarship Initiative has generated a commitment of nearly $14 million in additional scholarship funds to Colorado students from state and philanthropic sources.
